My approach

I defined the project scope and established a budget then scheduled so many mandatory meetings that Dwight had to create a color-coded binder just to track them. My job here is to generate a comprehensive plan and ensure everyone feels heard before I tell them what we're actually going to do.

I act as the highly-paid interpreter between the client's bad, unsolicited ideas about fonts and the design team's quiet artistic superiority, managing the feedback loop to secure final sign-off. This phase is 80% emotional support and 20% making sure the user interface doesn't accidentally look like Michael Scott's desktop background.

I manage the developers, who are brilliant but need a constant reminder that they are building a product, not a secret spaceship, preventing all attempts at unauthorized 'cool' features (scope creep). I run the daily stand-up, which is essentially just a 15-minute meeting that should have been an email, to track progress and clear technical roadblocks.

I coordinate the entire Quality Assurance (QA) effort, which is where we pay people to meticulously tell us that we failed, and then I manage the excruciating defect log with the development team. My sole purpose is to get a perfect score—or at least an 'acceptable' score—so that we don't embarrass ourselves on launch day..

II orchestrate the entire 'Go-Live' event—the Super Bowl of midnight server work—ensuring the technical teams are coordinated and ready to execute the flawless launch I planned. After we successfully flip the switch, I immediately send the really important 'It's Live!' email to the entire company..
